Teeth Change over Time
Have you noticed that your teeth have shifted or moved over time or that your bite might feel a little different? Are you concerned about crooked teeth? People often see changes when they look in the mirror or notice that they get more food stuck between their teeth as they have gotten older. This is normal but there are solutions!
Straightening Teeth Has More Benefits Than Just Looking Good
Many people are aware of the esthetic benefits of straighter teeth but they may not know other positive factors. Properly aligned teeth can reduce fractures and broken teeth, reduce cavities and even improve gum and bone health.
How We Can Fix Crooked Teeth
There are a few different ways that we can fix crooked teeth to enhance a person’s smile and improve the longevity of their teeth. One way is with orthodontics. This means moving the teeth back into their ideal position within the bone and the context of your smile. Orthodontics can utilize braces or Invisalign.
Braces or Invisalign?
Both are great options; and each has its pros and cons. Braces are great because it is easy to be compliant – the braces are attached to your teeth! Invisalign requires a patient to wear clear plastic aligners at least 22 hours each day in order to achieve desired tooth movement… but no metal brackets!
Invisalign is a custom-tailored treatment plan for each patient. We offer Invisalign in our Westminster dental office and our patients love their results!
Crowns and Veneers
Another way to fix crooked teeth or alter your bite is with crowns or veneers. Crowns and veneers allow us to cover the tooth surface to change the shape and color and slightly alter the position. This is a great option if the teeth have already had crowns or veneers, or if the teeth have very large fillings. Crowns and veneers are also useful because they are a faster option than braces or Invisalign. A complete case can be done in as little as 2 appointments.
